Clinical Team Leader
Helen is an Educational and Development Psychologist experienced in working with children and adolescents, in a wide range of presentations including depression, attention deficit disorders, obsessive compulsive disorders and learning difficulties. She has a particular interest in childhood anxiety, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), and developing emotional regulation. In her therapeutic practice, Helen incorporates a range of evidence-based psychological treatments including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), behavioural intervention strategies, social skills training and mindfulness techniques.
Helen is skilled as both an educator and a mental health professional. Having worked as a teacher prior to moving into the field of psychology has provided Helen the opportunity to understand first hand how to best support children with diverse learning needs; academically, socially and emotionally. Helen has also supported society’s most vulnerable children through her experience in the field of childhood trauma. Her work included consultation with care teams, supporting kinship and foster carers by providing education on the effects of trauma, strategies to facilitate attachment, and providing therapy to children.
Helen adopts a collaborative approach to her work, involving children, parents, and teachers in the process to allow consistency across contexts. Helen is passionate about supporting young people and their parents to achieve the best possible outcomes.
