Introducing the Special Interest Society!
Does your child or teen have a deep passion for something amazing—like trains, coding, history, animals, or space—but rarely gets the chance to share it with others?
The Special Interest Society is a supportive, fun, and empowering program where young people can share what they love, build confidence, and connect with others who are just as curious and passionate as they are.
What’s it all about?
Participants choose a topic they’re interested in and prepare a short presentation using a poster, PowerPoint, or creative format.
Throughout the program, they’ll:
- Learn how to structure their ideas
- Build confidence with public speaking
- Practise managing nerves in a safe, encouraging space
- Present to a friendly audience of peers, parents, and clinicians
- Celebrate their passion and answer questions from others
Why join?
✔ Build public speaking skills in a calm and supportive environment
✔ Grow self-esteem by being seen and heard
✔ Make social connections through shared interests
✔ Feel proud of their passions – and have fun doing it!
Important Info:
- Participants must bring their own device for research, plus a charger.
- If using Canva or PowerPoint, please ensure access is set up prior to the program.
- Materials will be provided for poster-style presentations.
